Zajęcia odbywają się w ramach Katedry Komunikacji Wizualnej kierowanej przez profesora Lecha Majewskiego / The program is part of the Department of Visual Communication framework headed by Professor Lech Majewski.
Są przeznaczone dla studentów III i IV roku oraz studiów doktoranckich / The program is accessible for both, master students of third and fourth year, and doctoral students.
Zajęcia składają się z wykładów i zajęć warsztatowych oraz konsultacji i korekt indywidualnych i grupowych / Class time is spent with slide and lecture presentations, studio work, as well as group and individual critiques.

Wymagania / Requirements

Dobra znajomość podstaw komunikatu graficznego niosącego formę i treść /
Good knowledge of basics of visual that conveys the form and content.
Znajomość anatomii alfabetu łacińskiego / Knowledge of the anatomy of the Latin alphabet.
Kompetencje w analizowaniu dzieła plastycznego / Competence in the analysis of an artwork.
Znajomość aplikacji graficznych / Knowledge of graphics applications (Indesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, XD).
Podstawowe umiejętności w zakresie fotografii / Basics skills in photography.

Znajomość podstaw montażu wideo będzie dużym ułatwieniem / Being familiar with the basics of video editing will be a big help.

W tej pracowni konsultacje techniczne są codziennością ale nie prowadzimy podstawowego szkolenia z obsługi narzędzi typu pakiet Adobe / In this studio, technical consultations are a regular feature but we don’t provide basic coaching on tools like the Adobe software.

Cel / Goal

Zasadniczym celem jest wprowadzenie studentów do:

projektowania layoutu jako nośnika płynnych treści redakcyjnych
integrowanie środków języka graficznego (słowa i obrazy) w obrębie layoutu
technik kreacji i nadzoru artystycznego
łączenia treści oraz instrumentów graficznych z czasoprzestrzenią wieloarkuszowych form wydawniczych zarówno w mediach drukowanych jak i elektronicznych.

The main objective is to introduce students to:

the layout design as the vehicle for the fluid editorial content
art direction techniques
combine content and visual instruments within the space-time of multi-sheet forms of publishing in both, print and electronic media.

Założenia / Principles

Program stymuluje i daje pierwszeństwo „opowiadaniu historii”, które jest rozumiane jako tworzenie narracji oraz budowanie sekwencji poprzez edycję i układanie treści w środowisku drukowanym i wirtualnym / The program stimulates and gives priority to “storytelling” which is understood as creating a narrative and building sequences by editing and laying out content via printed and virtual matter.
Podczas zajęć prezentowane są formalne, percepcyjne, symboliczne i techniczne aspekty komunikacji wizualnej – ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem mediów edytorskich. Zajęcia umożliwiają przegląd procesu komunikacji projektowej z uwzględnieniem procesu kreatywnego, terminologii i technologii / In this course the formal, perceptual, symbolic and technical aspects of visual communication is introduced – with the emphasis on editorial media. This class provides an overview of the design communication process including creative procedure, terminology, and technology.
Aby lepiej zrozumieć ideę „nieuniknionego” związku między treścią i formą program obejmuje zapoznanie się z procedurą tworzenia otwartej i merytorycznej współpracy pomiędzy grafikiem i zespołem dziennikarskim / To catch on the idea of „inescapable” connection between content and form the program includes the procedure of maintaining an open and merit-based collaboration between graphic designer and journalistic team.
Szczególny nacisk jest położony na systemowość rozwiązań graficznych z uwzględnieniem sposobów budowy schematów typograficznych, infografiki i strategii operowania obrazem / The aspect of the system in design solutions is important in particular, including the approach to building systematic palettes in typography, infographics tiles and strategies for image handling.
Istotny jest aspekt manualny a tym samym „fizyczność procesu projektowego”. Zdolność syntezy pomysłu w formie odręcznego szkicu pozwala rozwijać zdolności czynienia skrótu niezbędnego do przenoszenia znaczeń / The attention is paid to the “physical feature” of the project and the manual attitude. The ability to synthesize ideas in the form of a freehand sketch allows to develop the “shortcut thinking” – crucial to carry any meanings.
Jednocześnie praca na wydrukach pozwala na sprawną kontrolę narracji graficznej – tak istotnej w „długich formach graficznych” / Meanwhile, consistent use of print outs allows to control the visual narrative – such important in the „long graphical forms”.
W celu przybliżenia realiów redakcyjnych i rynkowych wprowadzone są elementy pracy zespołowej oraz wymagana jest odpowiednia prezentacja i werbalizacja opracowanych koncepcji wizualnych / In search for representing the real live circumstances of editorial the elements of teamwork is introduced, and the students are demanded to show off an appropriate presentation and verbalization of developed visual concepts.
Zasadniczo zajęcia mają charakter korektowy i warsztatowy. W części warsztatowej studenci pracują na komputerach własnych lub pracownianych (ograniczona ilość). W wyznaczonych terminach odbywają się szczegółowe przeglądy robocze polegające na prezentacjach indywidualnych lub zespołowych na rzutniku z iMaca znajdującego się w pracowni / Basically the classes consist of critiques and workshops. During the workshop hours students work on their own computers or studio ones (limited quantity). The scheduled dates are held detailed critiques involving individual or team presentations on the projector with studio iMac.
Praca ze studentami z goszczącymi na naszej Akademii w ramach programu Erasmus jest oparta na korektach indywidualnych w języku angielskim / The Erasmus Program students participating in the classes are provided with individual tutorials in English.

Ocena / Grading Policy

Ocena uwzględnia poziom wykonanych prac i zaangażowanie.

70% wykonanie zadań, aktywność na zajęciach i frekwencja
30% semestralny przegląd prac

The grading is based on the quality of work performed and the commitment.

30% of semestral review of the projects

Dyplomy / Graduation

Od stycznia 2022 realizacja dyplomów będzie się odbywać wyłącznie w formie aneksów / Starting January 2022 degree processing will continue exclusively in the form of addenda only.
